Akumal Turtle Sanctuary Snorkeling

The town of Akumal is just south of Playa del Carmen and is home to many beautiful and tranquil beaches. The water here is a protected marine zone and home to an exquisite shallow reef and an abundance of sea grass, making this site optimum for seeing all sorts of sea life; especially turtles. While snorkeling you will get to have up close and personal encounters with many green, and loggerhead turtles which stay in the shallow water to feed in the sea grass and lay their eggs. You can expect to see many turtles while snorkeling as well as southern stingrays, banded butterfly fish, doctor fish, and the occasional cow fish. The snorkeling bay is very calm and relaxing, and with the amount of sea life in the area and the extremely close proximity, in which you will be able to observe it, makes this an amazing experience for all snorkelers, divers, and turtle lovers alike.
